Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am very excited to start a new year in Buffalo Center with my own kindergarten class and look forward to a wonderful year!

Here's a little bit about me.  I grew up in Algona, IA and graduate from Algona High School in 2000.  I then went to the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in Elementary and Middle School education with a minor in Mathematics.  While in college I had the opportunity to go overseas to England and be a day camp counselor on a military base.

I really enjoyed travelling, so when it came time to do my student teaching I chose to go to Germany, where I was in 2nd and 6th grade classrooms.  Again, I had a lot of fun being overseas and learning about new cultures, so I accepted my first full-time job teaching kindergarten in Cairo, Egypt.  I stayed there for 2 and a half years, but missed my family and friends so I returned home.

My first year back in Iowa, I taught in Emmetsburg at the Catholic school.  I also met my husband, Larry, which influenced me to move to Thompson the following year.  So for the past two years I have been substitute teaching in the North Iowa Community School system.

I also have a little boy, Leighton, who turned one this past July.
