Welcome to Exploring the World of Health Occupations!

There is something for everyone in the field of health.

I am pleased to be teaching health occupations this year.  I look forward to working with you and your parents.

Health Occupations will allow you the student an opportunity to learn about the wide variety of careers.  Do you know the job duties, educational requirements and salary for a medical illustrator, cytotechnologist, kinesiotherapist, genetic counselor or health information manager?  Do you have an interest in music? Perhaps music therapy would be a great career for you.  This class will show you what career might be waiting for you.  Additionally, students will learn skills used in patient care settings such gloving, breaking the chain of infection, taking vital signs, maintaining confidentilality and lifting and moving patients.  The course includes individual and group projects and job shadowing for work-based learning.  Students are expected to attend class, read their text, complete assigned work and be an active participant duirng class.  These expectations are essential skills that will allow them to be successful in their career choice.
